Content Management
Easy, standards-compliant WYSIWYG editor You don't need to know HTML, CSS, or any other code to design beautiful content pages.  You can even embed Flash and other multimedia with the click of a button.
Unlimited topics and content types Categorize your site with an unlimited amount of topics and sub-topics, creating a site hierarchy automatically.  You can even create different content types (such as Pages, Articles, a Blog, PDF Files, Video Files, Image Galleries, etc. - all via the control panel).
Edit/delete your content at any time There are no permanent mistakes with Caribou CMS - you simply edit/delete/add content until you are satisfied.  Caribou helps too, with a spell checker and appropriate warning messages.

Access Control
Restrict access to each content piece individually Everytime you submit a piece of content, you can select which of your membership groups has access to it.   You can make it accessible to just one group, a few groups, all groups, or make it public - it's up to you.  Of course, this restriction can be modified later.
Protect any page of your site, literally Using Caribou's PHP Script protection generator, you can insert a snippet of code at the top of any web page and protect  it with Caribou.  You can even protect your entire web site or entire topics. 

Subscription products that suit your site
Create an unlimited number of subscription products Each product you create is linked to both a "promotion" user group (where the user is placed when they subscribe) and a "demotion" user group (where the user is placed if their subscription expires or they unsubscribe).   So, you can create different subscription tiers, unlimited subscriptions, different priced subscriptions packages, anything you want! 
Offer free trials to your subscriptions With Caribou, you can offer free trials for individual subscription packages or via coupons that give the user a free trial for X number of days.  Each user can only have one free trial per package.
Coupon codes of different types As stated above, you can create "coupons" (promotional codes entered upon subscription) that give users a free trial.  Also, you can offer coupons of a % discount (whatever discount you would like) or a specified $ value (in your currency, of course).  You can even limit the usage of each coupon code.

Automatic payment processing via the gateway(s) of your choice
Multiple gateways to choose from Caribou works with merchant accounts such as Authorize.net and PSiGate (the users never leave your web site) and 3rd party payment processors such as PayPal and 2Checkout.  You can use multiple payment processors (offer PayPal and Authorize.net at checkout, for example) and change your payment gateway in the future, no problem.  Simply enter your User ID and password and Caribou will start accepting payments.
100% automatic process Don't worry about accepting new subscriptions or manually processing payments, your members will be able to subscribe through an online order form and automatically be promoted to their new member group and receive site access.  You will be notified of new subscriptions, if you choose.
Payment records and logs Each transaction with a payment gateway, both successful and unsuccessful, is stored in a "transaction log" that can be looked at in case of disputes or other troubles.  Also, Caribou keeps a record of each subscription that includes 3rd party transaction numbers, the amount paid, and the date of transaction.

Easy database backup/restore No one wants to lose their data and so Caribou provides a simple online database backup/restore interface.
Specify staff access privileges If you want to limit certain staff members to submitting content, you can do that with Caribou.  You can also control whether a staff member has access to user management, layout management, and Caribou's settings management.
Have an unlimited number of staff with separate logins Each staff member gets their own login (and access privileges, as stated above).
Custom fields for content, topics, and users Not only can you create custom fields for content items and topics, you can even create custom fields for your user's to complete upon signup.  So, if you are interested in whether your user is a Gemini or a Virgo, you can find out.  You can even specify which fields are editable after signup (you don't need to be able to edit the username of the person who referred you, for example).  All custom fields can be added/deleted at any time, and you can place "field validators" on the custom fields to make sure the user completes the field properly.

Miscellaneous features
Advanced search engine Users can search your site with keywords.  Also, their search can be clarified by searching only specific site topics or content published between a specified date range.
Comments Your visitors can comment on your content (if you give them permissions to do so).  Comments can be enabled/disabled on a per-content basis.
Automatically generated RSS feeds You can create an RSS feed of any topic (or multiple topics) with the click of a button in Caribou's control panel.
Search engine optimized for top search engine rankings The easiest way to get traffic is through proper HTML markup that is easy for search engines such as Google and Yahoo! to read. Caribou takes care of this automatically.
Integrate your community easily Want to operate a phpBB or vBulletin message board?  Caribou allows you to integrate this directly with your Caribou CMS web site, even promoting users to different user groups at your message board when they subscribe at your web site.  It's seamless integration - your users only register once, login once, and subscribe once. 
Open source modules, templates, and other code Although some of Caribou's libraries and classes are encoded with IonCube, many files are open source and editable by you.  This includes all of the modules, templates, payment gateways, integration code, and 95% of the control panel.  So, if you know PHP or would like to hire a PHP developer to modify the code, they will have no problem tweaking Caribou to work just like you want it.  There is also a set of documentation for developers and designers to work with Caribou.
