Control Your Site's Design
Unlike other products, Caribou doesn't force a design onto your website. You have complete control over aspect of its appearance. Novices can use the Menu Manager and Theme Editor to make design modifications right in the control panel. And - intermediate or advanced users - don't worry. You have complete access to the validated XHTML templates (powered by Smarty) and CSS stylesheets.
Smarty Template Engine
Every page on your site is generated with the Smarty template engine. Simply edit the HTML files and, using content variables such as title and body as well as plugins, completely change the way your site looks.
Drag-and-Drop Menu Manager
Create and edit menus using the Menu Manager. Simply drag your site's content into an organized hierarchal menu. You can add external navigation links or edit the way sub-links are shown too.
Theme Editor
Browse your site like a regular website visitor. When you want to edit the way a page looks, click "Edit" and be taken to an editor with the HTML template, linked CSS stylesheets, available content variables, and an image uploader. Perfect for novices!
Web Standards Compliant
Included Caribou templates use valid XHTML and CSS stylesheets for improved cross-browser consistency, accessibility, and search engine friendliness. It just makes things easier to edit, too.
Manage your website's navigation menus
1) Drag-and-drop content and potential menu items from the right box to the left box to build your menu. You can make multi-tiered menus by clicking the "children" icon beside the menu link in the left box, and 2) See all of your site's content that has not been linked to in the navigation yet.
Use the Theme Editor to easily modify your templates
1) Whenever you find a page on your site that you want to change, select "edit this template", and 2) navigate your site in the Theme Editor like you would in any browser.
Edit a template in the Theme Browser
1) Upload new images or files to be used in the template, 2) View and edit all template files, CSS files, and JavaScript files that are linked to the current template, and 3) Edit the template HTML directly in your browser.
